&
LANDSCAPES
In 2010, I visited Karaguuza, Kibaale State in Uganda where my son, William Melzer, was working with EMESCO, a local charity using inexpensive ways to help rural people improve their lives. Teaching hygiene, constructing simple, but effective earth toilets, creating simple tools which reduced contamination, and bringing local people together were all important elements of the work of EMESCO, which the photos aim to illustrate.
My son and I took time off to see some very beautiful parts of Uganda, the Murchison Falls and game reserve, and Lake Victoria.
