CROUCH END

Crouch End – part of the Borough of Haringey in North London - retains a strong sense of identity, drawing trades people and residents to its crossroads of shops and cafes where it has the feeling of a village within the city.

I arrived in 1969 and lived in a bedsit within yards of the former Hornsey Art College, the year after its famous Strike. Five years later, I moved to Chettle Court, a new Haringey council block in Stroud Green, fifteen minutes’ walk from Crouch End, and which has been my home up to the present day.

These portraits are of a range of people, mostly all local to Crouch End, and part of my life.
